Answer: We work across Liberia, Ghana, Kenya, and Rwanda, primarily in under-resourced communities delivering technical education and development initiatives with an emphasis on Liberia.
What is the mission of LESSAT-AFRICA?
Answer: LESSAT-AFRICA`s mission is to empower underprivileged children, youth and their families and community through relevant education, innovative healthcare and market-focused livelihood programmes. We aim to deploy best possible methodology and technology for achieving ideal SROI (social return on investment), to practice and promote good governance, to link business competitiveness of the corporate with social development initiatives and to sensitize the privileged section of society to promote Civic Driven Change.

Answer: The realization of the damage caused by the war and how Liberia’s workforce was destroyed laid the inception of LESSAT-AFRICA. The organization was born out of a deep commitment to rebuild skills, promote education, and empower young people to become leaders in STEM, TVET, and sustainable development.

I thought LESSAT-AFRICA closed down at the end of 2014?
By the end of 2014, LESSAT-AFRICA – like many other grassroots and international NGOs – was struggling to raise the funds necessary to sustain all of its programs. The financial challenges came at a time when multiple crises across Africa were competing for donor attention. Despite these difficulties, we knew we could not abandon the communities we had been working alongside since our founding. We made tough decisions, restructured operations, and reduced some administrative activities, but we remained committed to sustaining our core programs in Liberia and expanding into Ghana, Rwanda, and Kenya.
This transition gave us a clearer vision and deeper determination to stay the course. Most importantly, it strengthened our relationships with schools, teachers, students, and community leaders who saw our persistence when others had to scale back or leave.
Today, LESSAT-AFRICA may look a little different: we are leaner, more community-driven, and laser-focused on innovation in education. We no longer chase large-scale, high-cost projects; instead, we invest in practical programs that directly build skills, empower youth, and promote resilience. Our mission has evolved beyond immediate post-war recovery to address the broader vulnerabilities that hold back Africa’s growth.
