Who We Are
Founded in 2012 by Doris Myers and co-founder Rufus Kwenah, LESSAT-AFRICA is a regional Liberian development organization dedicated to transforming education in Liberia, Ghana, Kenya, and Rwanda. Responding to Liberia’s post-war need for skilled professionals, the organization empowers underserved communities through inclusive, STEM-based vocational education and climate-smart development.
what we do?
On behalf of the LESSAT-AFRICA team, thank you for joining us as we take a bold step toward a stronger, smarter Liberia.
We’re not just transforming education, we’re building futures. Through a modern, STEM-driven TVET system, we equip young people with practical, job-ready skills aligned with industry needs in construction, robotics, energy, health, and environmental management.
LESSAT-AFRICA supports rural communities through small project assistance grants for school repairs, training center upgrades, and renovations. We also provide scholarships, textbooks, mentorship, mental health support, and career guidance, because behind every thriving student is a strong support system.
With over 40 volunteers and a reach of 9,000+ learners, we bridge gaps in teacher training and educational infrastructure. Our innovative tools-mobile cinema, STEM exhibitions, and rural trail bridges help connect even the most remote communities to opportunity.
We are committed to equity, breaking down barriers for girls and underserved youth, and ensuring everyone has a fair chance to succeed in technical education.
But we can’t do this alone. Your support helps us train educators, build labs, and empower the next generation of leaders and innovators.
Partner with us. Let’s build Liberia’s future together.

WHY we do it?

We believe that children, and adolescents not only deserve but also need respect, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive. Our programs and activities help the most vulnerable members of our communities feel valued in ways that society often overlooks.
We empower the most vulnerable in Liberia through STEM-driven TVET education. By providing quality education and skills training, we help individuals build confidence, achieve upward mobility, and contribute positively to their communities.
We owe it to ourselves, as much as to these young people, to work with determination and passion to eradicate poverty, provide education, and improve everyone’s living conditions.
